The new "Shop by Material" drop down is pretty snazzy.
Recently we went through the massive task of completely redesigning Hipcycle.com, and while I may be biased, I think it turned out really well! I hope you have had a chance to check it out, and I hope you like it too.
Why did we go through this big project? Well, really it is all about delivering a better experience to you! We had gotten lots of anecdotal feedback about how much everyone liked the old site, yet there was always something about it to us that was never quite right. Our theory was that everyone was so jazzed about the notion of a site dedicated to upcycling and upcycled products that the site could have looked like something out of 1997 and people still would have liked it!
The new site has a much cleaner look and better conveys the brand we want to convey, and better facilitates conversation we are seeking to have with upcyclers all over the world. But note that we didn’t get rid of the things that people loved, like the almost famous “materials rotator,” now re-imagined as a shop by material drop down menu. We even kept our rotating silly taglines...have you found them yet?
We also did a lot behind the scenes to prepare for the future. We made a lot of improvements, and will continue to make improvements that enhance the speed, reliability, and performance of the site, and we also set up the infrastructure to add a lot of new products in the coming weeks, months, and years. We’ve got a lot more furniture coming, and we’ll soon be adding what I call the “other half of the upcycling world” by adding beautiful and durable apparel, accessories and jewelry collections.
All of this is hopefully positioning us to be here to serve and learn with you for years to come. I want to thank you again for your all you positive comments and support (and for shopping with us!) since we have opened last fall. We couldn’t do it without you. As always, if you have any comments or questions, please get in touch with me at Andrew@hipcycle.com.

I have been reading your atrciles during my lunch break, and I have to admit the whole article has been very valuable and very well written. I thought I would let you know that for some reason this blog does not view well in Internet Explorer 8. I wish Microsoft would stop changing their software.
