Durable, high-design table hand-crafted from upcycled road signs.
This unique chair is fabulously eye-catching. From designer Boris Bally, the Transit Table is hand-fabricated, pierced, and brake-formed.The result is a piece with a beautiful Pop aesthetic that withstands everyday abuse and retains its original industrial strength.
The aluminum traffic signs used to make the Transit Table are acquired from a variety of scrap dealers and Departments of Public Works that need to discard their bent, damaged, and obsolete signs. These signs go through rigorous selection: only one in five signs meets the proper criteria for material thickness, imagery, and alloy.
The signs are then washed to remove the gook from it's previous life, then coated to preserve their weathered finish. Finally, the legs are finished with upcycled champagne corks to cushion the chair and protect the floor.
Some simple assembly is required (see the instructions here), and it is easily cleaned.
Each piece is one-of-a-kind. Select your preferred color when you order, and we'll e-mail you snapshots of several choices in your preferred color scheme, ensuring you get exactly the chair your heart desires.
